Human-dog relationship: quality of life in the domestic environment
Resumo
Domestic animals have developed skills that can help them interact with humans, some of which may be related to the animal’s quality of life. We used behavioral tests administered to caregivers to assess the stress and well-being of domestic dogs. We evaluated the behavior 68 dogs of undefined breeds with a psychometric scale. Altered behavior was observed in 22% of the dogs. Among the evaluated variables, only the dog’s personality was statistically significant, with shy dogs showing a poorer quality of life than bold dogs. We conclude that bolder animals are more able to thrive in the domestic environment.
