O desafio do clareamento dental sem sensibilidade: Qual a melhor estratégia dessensibilizante?

Introdução: A SD é a complicação mais comum causada pelo clareamento dental. Os peróxidos encontrados nos agentes clareadores, por terem baixo peso molecular, conseguem difundir-se com facilidade pelos substratos dentais atingindo a polpa. Este contato gera um quadro de pulpite reversível, que resulta em sensibilidade. Todavia, existem estratégias dessensibilizantes que reduzem esse efeito adverso. Objetivo: Conhecer principais estratégias dessensibilizantes usadas antes, durante e após o clareamento dental para redução da SD. Metodologia: Artigos científicos, disponíveis nas bases de dados Pubmed, Google acadêmico, Scielo, portal Capes, entre outros, foram consultados. Livros e websites também foram pesquisados. Resultados: Verificou-se na literatura pesquisada que o uso de flúor, dentifrícios dessensibilizantes, laserterapia, agentes dessensibilizantes, medicamentos e gomas de mascar podem ser utilizados antes e após o clareamento dental. Analgésicos e anti-inflamatórios são indicados apenas para pacientes que possuem um menor limiar de dor. Géis com cálcio na composição devem sempre ser usados durante o tratamento clareador. Promover a recuperação do paciente após o clareamento dental é primordial para não ocasionar a exacerbação da SD. Conclusão: Uma única estratégia dessensibilizante não parece ser capaz de impedir a ocorrência da SD no clareamento dental. A combinação de estratégias para reduzir a SD até o momento representa a melhor opção.
